Nanette's Story

I wanted to take a minute to tell my story about how NUCCA became a part of my life. My story doesn’t start with me. It starts with my husband who for years has suffered from lower back pain.

He had been receiving cortisone shots for about the last three years because the medical doctors told him that was all they could do for him besides the inevitable back surgery that he would have to have when the cortisone shots would no longer bring him any relief.

That day came and changed our lives. My husband, who traveled a lot for work, came home from a business trip in agony. He believed it was the hotel mattress, the airplane ride, the luggage handling... He thought he would get better in a couple of days. He didn’t. He went from an active man with back pain to a man who required a walker and a shower chair. He worked from his bed with his laptop. We both thought that the inevitable back surgery was the only answer.

We made an appointment to see this prominent surgeon thinking that this was our only hope. What he told us after examining the latest x-rays was that he would do the surgery if we wanted him to but that it may or may not work. That doctor suffered from the same degenerative disease and he said that he had decided not to have the surgery. We were in shock!

I was helping my husband out of the car when our neighbor who was walking her dogs saw the pain on my husbands face and asked what was up? We explained the situation to her and she said you have to see my NUCCA doctors. When she returned from her walk she brought the phone number right over and shared her story about how Dr. Nick and Dr. Christie had saved her a life of being on steroids for asthma with their program.

I had heard the story before and was always planning to see them eventually for my fibromyalgia and other medical problems that wouldn’t go away but I have a habit of not taking care of myself that many moms, wives and working woman have.

This is here and now and an emergency. My husband can’t walk and is in pain and someone needs to do something! We called Redmond Spinal Care and made an appointment. After Drs. Bagnaro reviewed his MRI and NUCCA films they said they could help. He started seeing Dr. Nick and within weeks Rich was walking upright instead of the bend over gait he was accustomed to. His pain gradually got better and better.

That is where my story begins. After taking care of Rich’s every need for about three weeks my back was at a level of pain I had never experienced before. Now the tables were turned and Rich made an appointment for me to see Drs. Bagnaro.

I have now realized after living with fibromyalgia, depression, stomach problems, allergies and asthma that have all mysteriously gone away since seeing the doctors for my back problem that NUCCA and Dr. Nick and Dr. Christie have changed the quality of our lives. I would and have recommended NUCCA to everyone in a positive way. It could change the quality of your life!
