Meghan's Story

All my life I have been an athlete. My identity was directly linked by my ability to run faster, jump higher, move quicker and push harder than my opponents. I was an athlete first, before all of my other roles in my life. Volleyball, Softball, Water-skiing, Snow skiing, running, hiking, and any other active sports I could do. I thrived for the challenge, the physical requirements, the emotional high, and the team mentality. Although, in most recent years, my own body has been tearing down. Regardless of my age, 22, I have begun to feel the effects of all the pain and impact that years of competitive sports have done to me. My body has drastically changed, and is no longer able to perform at such a high caliber level. I actually hesitate before hard workouts, question my ability to compete, and feel constant pain throughout my body.

More specifically, I have been experiencing excruciating pain in my lower back for the last four years. This constant pain has become a reality that I have accepted; felt that I “deserved” for all the rigorous sports I have put myself through. It was most evident when I sat for a long periods of time, and all throughout college I could never make it through a two hour lecture, without taking a break to stand up and stretch my back. With that, I also experienced constantly “cold hands”, neck pains, dull and consistent headaches, recurring sinus infections, lack of energy, and always felt like I never could get enough sleep to re-energize. This past year I completed my first marathon, and throughout that training I experience sharp pain in my left hip whenever I ran long distances.

I have tried physical therapists, deep tissue massage, sport creams, medication, herbal supplements and many other things to renew my body and get it back to a high level of performance.

Which brings me to my journey with NUCCA treatment and my introduction with the Bagnaro Doctor team. Through my involvement with the Redmond Chamber of Commerce, I was the lucky winner of a door prize to have an initial consultation with Dr. Nick. With little knowledge of chiropractors, I had no expectations, but figured it was worth a shot. I quickly realized that this form of care was far different from any traditional notion of chiropractic practice. With NUCCA, the doctors are able to know exactly what form of adjustment your body needs. There is no guessing, only concrete evidence of a spinal misalignment and a complete plan to correct your spine. After many measurements and a long list of symptoms, Dr. Nick performed his first spinal correction on me. Let’s just say it was an unforgettable experience! With a range of emotions from disbelief and doubt of the procedure, to excitement and instant changes in my body, I have quickly become a convert to understanding how important it is to live a life with an aligned spine. Not only does it affect your nervous system and prevent spinal degenerative disease, but also having a corrected spine has relived me of most, if not all of my symptoms.

I have realized that living a life in constant pain is no longer acceptable. My body has adjusted and experienced many changes. Immediately, my lower back pain has disappeared, my energy level remains at a very high level, my neck no longer aches, and I have slept better than ever before. Daily pain is no longer an option, and I am forever grateful for the positive changes of NUCCA care.

This treatment is one that focuses on adjusting the body, so that it can perform at an optimal level. It doesn’t guarantee improvement in my athletic ability, which is up to me. Yet without the constant pain, I have been able to resume my multiple activities with confidence. I have gained confidence in knowing that my body won’t hit the “wall of pain” and am able to focus on my passion for physical movement and athletics. I only wish I had learned of this treatment years ago.
